A man was murdered by two persons following an incident of road rage at Karegaon village in Shirur taluka of Pune district in the early hours of Saturday. Police identified the deceased as Siddiqui Mohammad Mujameel Mohammad Haji (34), a resident of Karegaon who hails from Nanded district in Maharashtra. Police arrested two persons identified as Omkar Sitaram Walke (26) and Vijay Dnyaneshwar Jagdhane (30) in the murder case. Deceased Siddiqui's brother Mohammad Shakeel Mohammad Haji (38) lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Ranjangaon MIDC police station in Pune rural. According to police, the accused Walke and Jagdhane were riding a two wheeler around 7 pm on Friday when it crashed into pedestrians Siddiqui and his brother Mohammad Shakeel at Yashin Chowk in Karegaon. Police said Siddiqui and Mohammad Shakeel questioned the accused for not driving the two-wheeler properly. However, the accused persons got angry and later around 2 am on Saturday, they attacked the two brothers at their residence in Karegaon with a wooden stick and plastic pipe. Police said the attack was so severe that Siddqui died in the incident, while his brother Mohammad Shakeel was also left injured. After receiving information, a police team led by senior inspector Mahadev Waghmode rushed to the spot for investigation. Cops nabbed the accused and said Mohammad Shakeel was undergoing treatment at a hospital and his condition was stable. “The deceased was working at a private company in Ranjangaon MIDC. We have arrested the two assailants. The murder was a fallout of a petty quarrel. The accused have no previous criminal record. Accused Walke is engaged in a mineral water bottles business, while his aide Jagdhane worked at a private place. Further investigation is on,” said inspector Waghmode. Police sub inspector Shivaji Mundhe is investigating the case further, police stated in a press release issued on Saturday.
