Over a month-long strike by jewellers against one per cent excise duty has been suspended for 10 days by Maharashtra Rajya Saraf Federation.
The jewellers have been on strike since March 2 demanding a rollback of the excise duty on non-silver jewellery.

“The strike has not been called off but suspended for 10 days. The shops would open on April 14,” said Fatechand Ranka, president of Maharashtra Rajya Saraf Federation.
He said the association would submit a proposal on VAT to the state government and if it is not accepted, the strike would resume from April 24.
The decision to suspend the strike would help customers as it’s marraige season.
All jewellers shop in the city would open from April 14.
