No remote control to light the lamp?
State forest minister and founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth University Patangrao Kadam shared the dais with Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily and others during the inauguration of BVU New Law Schools Euro-American legal Study Centre and Cyber Crime Cell. When the guests were called to light the lamp,Kadam asked if they had a remote-controlled lamp that could be lit without getting off their chairs. Dean of the New Law College Mukund Sarda was giving his opening remarks,when Moily and Kadam were engaged in. Sarda had to call out to Moily twice to get his attention.
Signature campaign for Lokpal Bill
Voluntary organisation India Against Corruption (IAC) has organised a signature campaign for Jan Lokpal Bill that provides for filing complaints of corruption against prime minister,other ministers and MPs with the ombudsman,near Kamla Arcade on J M Road from April 3 to April 5. IAC activists have helped the government draft the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Now,biometric attendance in courts
Biometric attendance system will be activated in all courts in the state,including the Pune district and sessions court,to ensure that court employees report to work on time. This system will be activated from this month. A total of 19,036 employees work in various district,family and small-causes courts across the state.
V A Kulkarni elected president of LLPA
Advocate V A Kulkarni has been elected the president of Labour Law Practitioners Association (LLPA) for 201-12. The other office bearers elected are Bhushan Tapasvi as vice-president,G K Sahastrabuddhe as secretary,Vishal Jadhav as treasuer. Harneksingh Kalyan,Sanjay Suryavanshi,P D Kalane,T D Chavan,Anuja Terkar have been elected as members of the executive committee.
Lok Nyayalaya by PDLSA
A total of 253 cases were settled in the Lok Nyayalaya organised by the Pune District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) at the Pune district and sessions court,Shivajinagar,last week. Around 8,800 cases were put up for settlement,of which 8,000 were pre-litigation matters,750 juvenile cases and 45 motor accident claims. Fourteen panels of a retired or serving judge,lawyer and social workers were formed. Of the settled cases,192 were pre-litigation matters,57 juvenile cases.
