Lawyer booked after dog run over by his Mercedes car

The complainant stated in the FIR that after receiving information about the death of a dog due to serious injuries, the CCTV footage of the incident was checked. An officer from Swargate police station said the footage shows that the dog was run over by the Mercedes car driven by the lawyer, who has his office in the area.

“The complainant has alleged that lawyer deliberately ran over the dog and that he tried to kill the dog several times in the past. We are yet to verify this claim. We will also ascertain whether this was a deliberate act or not,” said an officer from Swargate police station.

Police booked the lawyer under provisions of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act along with Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita which pertains to act of killing or maiming the animal.
