Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Thursday said the government’s ambitious plan to re-survey land in the state will be launched in Pune district as a pilot project.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Thursday said the government’s ambitious plan to re-survey land in the state will be launched in Pune district as a pilot project.

Addressing the media after convening a two-day conference of bureaucrats,Chavan said the survey will facilitate clearing of land-holding titles that will be initiated for the first time in 125 years in the state.

“We have allotted funds for the project. After launching a pilot in Pune district, the project will be extended to the entire state,” said Chavan.

Meanwhile,Chavan said the government is determined to build the Chakan International Airport, even though the plan was getting delayed due to land acquisition issues.

“We are yet to finalise the number of runways the airport will have. The preferred idea is to have two runways for which we will need 1800 hactres of land. The airport will come up soon and help boost trade,” said Chavan.
