Juhi Prasad case transferred to Crime Branch; Nimesh,mother questioned

The investigation in the case of Delhi lawyer Juhi Prasad was set on fire allegedly by another woman on October 13 has been transferred to Pune police Crime Branch. Wanawadi police from Zone IV was earlier investigating the case. Prasad succumbed to her injuries on October 22. Police are yet to arrest the suspect.

Prasad was visiting her fiancé Nimesh Sinha,who was also injured in the incident. Anushree Kundra (30),with whom Nimesh reportedly had an affair in the past was also with them when the incident took place. At 9 am,Kundra allegedly set Prasad on fire and fled Nimesh’s apartment in New Market Plaza in Wanawadi. Nimesh had sustained 10 to 15 per cent injuries while Juhi had sustained more than 90 per cent injuries. Kundra is on the run since then.

Deputy commissioner of police (Crime Branch) Rajesh Bansode said,”Crime Branch has taken over the investigation a day before. We are yet to study all the details of the case.”

Police sources said Kundra was not traceable. “Kundra has switched off her cell phones and has stopped using her email accounts,” said a police officer.

In his statement to Pune police,her father A N Prasad had alleged that it could have been Sinha who set Juhi on fire and was passing the blame on Kundra,thus getting both the women out of his way. When asked about this allegation,Bansode added,”We are investigating the case from all angles.”

A senior crime branch official said,”One of our teams had gone to Mumbai in search of Kundra. We will send our teams to other places too. Nimesh and his mother were called for inquiry and were at the Crime Branch office for six to seven hours on Monday.”
