3 held for black-marketing India vs Eng cricket match tickets

The crime branch of the Pimpri Chinchwad police arrested three people for allegedly selling tickets ‘in black’ of the India vs England T20 match held at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Academy in Gahunje on Friday.

Police constable Sunil Kshirsat of the Anti-human trafficking cell lodged an FIR in the case at the Dehu road police station on Saturday.

The accused have been identified as Arjun Shashikant Sappaguru (22), Ravindra Manohar Bansode (27) and Rahul Raju Kanade (24), all residents of Dehu road area. Police nabbed the three suspects for allegedly selling the cricket match tickets costing Rs 2,647 each for Rs 6,000.

Police booked the accused under Sections 112(2), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Deputy Commissioner of Police (zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad said three tickets of the international cricket match have been seized from the accused.

“They purchased the tickets from the authorised vendors and were found selling it illegally at higher prices. A court has sent them to police custody till February,” said Gaikwad.

Prima-facie investigation revealed that the accused are unemployed and were selling the tickets in black for financial gains.
