“It is the latest rave all over the Balkans and Europe,” says DJ Justin Mason when quizzed about this style of partying,which goes by the name of Silent Disco in the nation of its birthplace — The Netherlands. While the party was held for the first time in the city on Sunday,it was a mixed response that was echoed through the crowds. Ritika Desai an engineer who was present at the venue for the party says,“Honestly it was a little slow initially besides clamping headphones and dancing isn’t exactly that one expects in a party,but on the whole once the crowd gathered it really was good. And even though a different concept it was a good one and it surely looks cool.” The party featured three DJ’s and total headphone strength of 270. Speaking about this Mason says,“The headphones are actually made by a firm with which I have an long standing agreement. The beauty of the headphones is the fact that they allow the listener to switch between three different DJ’s. So one can easily switch between electro tech music,or house music,or trance music.”

“The best part about the party is that it is well within the purview of the law,” says Manpreet Singh of Gaia,where the party was held. “It enables the party goers to party for longer periods of time. The unique thing about the party is that even though it is a maiden concept people have actually taken to it quite well. So we are aiming at making this a monthly event and also increasing the capacity of the headphones so that we can have more party goers for the event.” While the maiden venture did leave the crowds asking for more,it will catch on as these parties come into vogue feels Singh. “I really believe this is going to be the next name in definitive partying. True the noise is not there,and the feeling of screaming in a disco doesn’t come in,but then hey can you beat switching between music channels while dancing?” questions Mason cheekily.
