A gritty knock from Hewlett Packard middle order batsman Mahesh Bhonsale helped his team emerge victorious against WNS in the Inter IT cricket tournament organised by the Maharashtra Krida and held at the Katariya School Cricket ground over the weekend.
Hewlett Packard won the toss and decided to field first on a moist wicket. The WNS batsmen had a hard time for the first 10 overs,wherein they lost their first six wickets in quick succession. Vinayak Rajguru batted well scoring 40 crucial runs while Avinash Parmar,the number 7,acclerated the WNS score to a reasonable target of 149 runs. Avinash Parmar scored a quickfire 39 runs to boost his teams score. Hewlett Packard had the advantage of wet wicket and Rahul Nahar and Parag Dahiwal were the main bowlers taking 2 wickets each for their team. Parag Dhaiwal scored valuable 18 runs while Mahesh Bhosale took the match away from WNS with his score of 68 runs in just 50 balls. After Bhonsale departed,Praveen Desai played sensible knock scoring an unbeaten 27 runs in 21 balls. Hewlett Packard chased the target in 21 overs. Prashant Wanhare,the strike bowler for WNS,claimed 4 wickets,while Avinash Parmar took supported him well with 2 wickets of his own. With this win Hewlett Packard reached the top position in the pool for the weekend,while WNS is down to 2nd position with 3 matches played.
