Relief from knee pain
Knee joint pain caused due to accidents or old age can now be treated successfully using modern,but scientifically proven medical procedures,said Orthopedic surgeon Dr Narendra Vaidya,at a seminar on ‘Knee Joint Pain and Advanced Treatment’. Organised by the General Practitioners’ Association,Pune,at Hotel President recently,the seminar was attended by president of the association Dr Nitin Zankar,honourable secretary Dr Sunil Paigude and Dr Vilas Takane,past president Dr Prasad Ambikar,and Dr Shailesh Niyogi,director,Lokmanya Hospital,besides 100 other doctors. Vaidya gave information about laser,nucleoplasty and coblation techniques which are helpful in treating pain in the knee joint,spinal and pelvis regions. He stressed the importance of surgery in appropriate cases for instant and long-lasting relief.
Screening for cancer
A cancer detection camp for women of Bombay Sappers was conducted at the BEG Centre at Khadki recently. Around 350 women were screened for breast cancer and cervical cancer. The function was inaugurated by the president of the Family Welfare Organisation of BEG,Simmi Talwar. A total of 13 doctors from BEG,Military Hospital Khadki and Armed Forces Medical College participated.
Free medical service
Inamdar Multispeciality Hospital,Wanowrie,provided free medical check-up services for Warkaris recently. A team of 40,including doctors,nurses and assistants,participated in this medical camp,informed Dr Parvez Inamdar,MD,Inamdar Multispeciality Hospital.
Power of yoga
The Wellness Health Care Yoga Centre (Aundh) will conduct its Vinyasa Power Yoga programme from August 1 while a yoga teachers’ training certificate course will be held from August 16. Dr Renu Mahtani,yoga therapist,stresses on the importance of both power and traditional yoga.
A successful drive
The Rotary Club of Poona North and Rotary Club of Dehu Road organised a blood donation camp recently in association with Dr D Y Patil Medical College,Pimpri,and Kunal Puram,Dapodi. The drive was successful,with 133 bottles of blood collected and 85 donors registering their names for future camps. Yogesh Behl,Mayor of PCMC,visited the camp and appreciated the community service.
