The St Mary’s School here has found a novel way of tackling H1N1. With one of the higher sections seeing three children getting infected last week, the school management decided to shut the section for 10 days. The school has also taken a decision to start and close early so that there is less interaction of children, especially during lunch breaks.

From November 23,the school management has decided to function from 8.30 am to 12 pm for the pre-nursery,nursery and senior KG,while children from the first to third will function from 7.40 am to 12.45 pm while those in the higher classes will function from 7.40 am to 1 pm.

In the past week, the school had one H1N1 case in the boys’ section and two in the girls’ section.

Principal J Simoes said the class had been shut and they asked parents to test their children by calling them up individually. “The section will be closed till November 30.”

Meanwhile,in the boys’ section, the management has issued notices to parents to take all precautions.

“The children are fine now and have recuperated well,” she said.
