‘Poshakh’,the store located on FC Road is having an exhibition to promote an eco-friendly and a green Diwali. Right from hand crafted fabrics,dupattas and jewellery to eco-friendly packing they are all on display. On Saturday the store even had a midnight exhibition that aimed to popularise the same. Kavita Awasthee,of the store,says,”The whole idea of the exhibition and also of the products is to promote the idea of a pollution free Diwali. Through the products we aim to promote the concept of reduce,reuse and recycle.” In addition the students of ‘Vidya Valley’ have also joined in to promote their motto of ‘Go Green’ this Diwali. Awasthee mentions that they will also be urging their clients to celebrate a cracker-free Diwali this time around.

Ishanya Foundation is hosting the fifth edition of Yellow Ribbon NGO Fair till October 29 to benefit different NGOs supported by the organisation. Over 100 NGOs such as Help Foundation,Tribhuvandas Foundation,Snehalaya and Akanksha Foundation will showcase their products till Monday,including sweets,chocolates,pickles,candles,miniature paintings,lamps,diyas,tribal art and hand-made Diwali cards. “Our main objective is not only to sell products,but to sell those things which are liked and used by Pune people,” says Parul Mehta, trustee and founder of Ishanya Foundation. Fitting in with the theme ‘Ecology to Economy’,most of the products are handmade and made with natural materials. Smitaben Parekh,initiator and supporter of the event says,“The Yellow Ribbon NGO Fair is a unique initiative for the less privileged and has indeed accomplished the task of spreading light and joy to the lives of many.”

Chef’s Day Out

Chefs at Mercure Lavasa celebrated International Chef Day on October 20 with a cake mixing session using traditional methods of making a Christmas cake. The cake was made with the finest ingredients and wines and will be kept till Christmas. “It’s best served with Brandy or simply with a sprinkle of icing sugar”,says Bandish Mehta,general manager at Mercure Lavasa. The chefs have also organised a biryani festival. The festival will feature a wide range of biryanis from different parts of the country.
