Pune guardian minister marks health,environment and traffic as key issues.
Newly appointed Pune guardian minister Sachin Ahir on Wednesday said the Pune environment plan that was prepared recently was not satisfactory and needed to be reviewed.
Addressing his first meet after taking details from senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar,he said,I will take a detailed review and make necessary amendments.
With funds to be coming in from the Central and the state government,he pointed out that river pollution was a major issue which needs to be addressed and that the necessary sewage treatment was not happening.
Laying out areas of focus,Ahir said that environment,health and traffic issues will remain the areas of focus.
He said that on Tuesday he cleared the pending proposal of having 100 emergency ambulances in the district which would help needy patients in the golden hour (thecrucial hour after an accident).
On the issue of traffic,he said he had taken stock of the situation and would be holding a meeting with Home Minister RR Patil next week.
There is definitely a shortage of traffic personnel and this needs to be addressed, he said.
He also reviewed the DPDC fund allocation and said that as of now 40 per cent has been spent and the remaining will have to be utilised. With Pune being termed as a terror city,he said vigilance will have to be improved and a tender to address allocation of CCTVs in key cities will have to be taken up. He assured to address the pending SRA scheme for the city. With affordable housing being a major issue he said he was seeking land from various areas.
With the city under the grip of dengue,he said he had asked the health officials to increase awareness drives.
Industrial policy awaits CM nod
On the industrial policy,Ahir said that the proposal was pending before the chief minister for final approval. This would open up opporunities for many smallscale industries in the state and benefits would be given to them to promote industries in the state. With some of the SEZs backing out he said that the land surrendered will be used for housing new industries in the state.
