The state government has issued a notification seeking suggestions and objections for the proposed modification in the development plan of 23 villages that now fall under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits. The proposed DP includes deletion of around 30 acre of land reserved for bio-diversity park (BDP) in Bavdhan.
In 1997,the jurisdiction of PMC was extended, which was later modified in 2001. Twenty-three villages around the city were brought under the PMC limits. The civic body published the draft development plan of the newly merged area in 2002. The DP had been pending with the state government for approval for long.
Citizens can inspect the copy of the modification in the PMC or the town planning department and submit their suggestions and objections, said the notification of the state urban development department.
The state government has listed 17 reservations for substantial modification, which includes two BDP reservations. For the first BDP reservation in Bavdhan, the government has stated that an expert committee has been appointed to study the aspects of BDP proposal and submit findings to the government but it has deleted a plot in Bavdhan Khurd from BDP, said former corporator Ujjwal Keskar.
The government decision to delete part of survey number 33 from BDP and including it in public or semi public zone was unjustified,he added. The 30-acre plot will be used for other purposes, Keskar added.
Among the other modifications, the government has decided to convert the land reserved for bio-technology and agri-business zone to residential zone with reservation of park, playground, dispensary and roads for the area.
It has also proposed conversion of town planning zone to residential with other civic amenities. The modification also includes low water availability zone to be converted to residential zone. The reservation of public amenities in survey number 39 of Hadapsar is deleted and shown as railway land while the reservation of defence zone in Kalas has been converted to public or semi-public zone as it belongs to VSNL. A nala garden in survey number five of Bavdhan Khurd has been deleted and made available for residential zone.
