Actor Sanjay Dutt — who is currently out on a furlough — will return to Yerawada Central Jail on Wednesday, authorities said. He was granted a 14-day furlough in the first week of October and had got a 14-day extension on medical grounds.

Deputy Inspector General (West Region) Rajendra Dhamane said,“Dutt’s furlough extension ends on Tuesday and he will have to return on Wednesday. Every inmate is given one day for travel and is entitled to only one extension.”

A jail official said on condition of anonymity,“The state government has the power to remit a sentence. But considering Dutt’s offence,a remission seems unlikely.”
