Actor and writer Dilip Prabhavalkar inaugurated ' Dnynovstav 2011',the 15th book exhibition organised by Gyanganga on August 3.

Actor and writer Dilip Prabhavalkar inaugurated ‘ Dnynovstav 2011’,the 15th book exhibition organised by Gyanganga on August 3 at Aacharya Atre Sabhagruha,Bajirao Road. Marathi books ‘Bokya Saatbande’ part 6 and 7,5th edition of ‘Eka Kaheliyane’ and 6 th edition of ‘Kagdi Ban’ were released at the function. “I started writing first and then became an actor,” said Prabhavalkar as he shared his experiences of playing the role of Mahatma Gandhi in the 2006 film Lage raho Munna Bhai as well as in the Telegu language remake Shankar Dada Zindabad. He also recalled fond memories of working with actors like Amitabh Bachhan and Sanjay Dutt. The exhibition will be open for the public till August 31.

The Vodafone Rangasangeet was announced on August 3 at the Deccan Rendezvous,Pune. The musical and prose-one act play competition will be held at the state level. It will also provide a platform for the upcoming talent in theatre across Maharashtra and Goa. Colleges,stand alone groups and theatre association groups,in and around Maharashtra and Goa,can register for the competition between August 10 and September 1 . The participating teams need to be a registered group within the theatre circle. The performances will be in the presence of prominent theatre and cinema personalities including Mahesh Manjarear,Subodh Bhave and Rakesh Sarang.

Dance of Devotion

Bringing together a fusion of devotion along with the performing art form,two students of the Kalavardhini Charitable Trust,Ananya Kaginalkar and Trishala Kulkarni will be having a Bharatnatyam recital on August 13. Called Shrirangayana,the performance is a collection of compositions that depict the various forms of Lord Krishna,which range from that of a mischievous child to a saviour of devotees. Having studied under their guru Anjali Bagal the girls will be performing the Varnam,Tillana,Padams and Koutukkam at the Symbiosis Vishwabhavan from 5.30 pm onwards. The Aarangetram performance by the two students will aim to help them showcase their potential as dancers on stage.
