A fireman suffered injuries when the wall of an old wada in Ganesh Peth collapsed on Tuesday morning. The fireman,identified as Chandrakant Ananddas,was fighting a fire that broke out in a two-storeyed wada located at Ganesh Peth in Dhor Galli.
According to the fire brigade,residents in the area spotted fire at the wada and informed them around 9.30 am. Following this,a fire tender and a water tanker reached the spot.

The wada was located in a narrow lane. A small fire tender equipped with a special water gun was pressed into service. Due to the pressure of the water released from this gun,an old dilapidated wall collapsed on the firemen who were dousing the flames.
Local residents immediately took him to a private hospital. He was discharged after treatment.
The Fire brigade said only one person was staying in a room on rental basis in the wada. This person was not at home and all other rooms were closed when the incident took place. The cause of the fire was not known.
