FIR against NDA regimental clerk for siphoning off Rs 11 lakhs

An offence of cheating has been registered against a regimental clerk of National Defence Academy (NDA) for allegedly causing a fraud of Rs 11 lakhs.

A senior account officer of NDA lodged the FIR in this case at Uttam Nagar police station on Thursday.

As per the FIR, the rent of shops at the NDA’s Gol Market are deposited in the ‘NDA regimental fund’ account. But, NDA officials found that the full amount was not being deposited, as per the receipts issued to shop keepers.

An internal inquiry conducted into the matter by NDA authorities found that regimental clerk Hemant Rawal, resident of Kondhve Dhawade, allegedly did not deposit the full amount received as shop rent into NDA’s official bank account and kept the money for himself.

It is alleged that Rawal siphoned off Rs 11,00,578 between 2013 and 2019. Police have booked him under sections 420, 406 of the Indian Penal Code, and are investigating the case.
