Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has described NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar as the “director of a fake narrative factory” and said Maharashtra has secured 52 per cent of the total investment in the country, rejecting the Opposition’s allegation that Gujarat is favoured over the state for investments.
“Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray are in the forefront of spreading a fake narrative. They claimed that Maharashtra’s companies were being taken away to Gujarat. But I want to tell the people of Maharashtra that out of the total investment in the country in the last one year, 52 per cent has been received by Maharashtra. Maharashtra is the Number One state when it comes to industrialisation. Instead of spreading a fake narrative, they should shower praise on the state,” the BJP leader said at an election rally in Chinchwad for party candidate Shankar Jagtap on Wednesday.
Fadnavis said Baramati MP Supriya Sule of the NCP (SP) had claimed that 16 companies from the Hinjewadi IT park had migrated to other states.
“She is lying. When the MVA was in power, 13 companies had shifted to other states. During the Mahayuti government, three companies went to other districts, not outside the state. If the MVA was so concerned about the state, why didn’t they create good infrastructure for the industries to thrive?” he said.
Pradeep Jadeja, a BJP MLA from Gujarat, was present on the occasion along with Maval MP Shrirang Barne of the Shiv Sena, MLC Uma Khapre, BJP Pimpri-Chinchwad working president Babu Kate, NCP Pimpri-Chinchwad president Yogesh Bhel, Shiv Sena Pune district chief Balasaheb Walhekar and former corporators.
Talking about Pimpri-Chinchwad, Fadnavis said that if re-elected in the Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024, the Mahayuti government would ensure the industrial city does not struggle to meet its daily water needs.
“Pimpri-Chinchwad is making rapid progress. In less than a year, the Chinchwad seat has seen an increase of 60,000 votes. To cater to the increasing water demands, the state government has provided additional 267 MLD water to the city. The demand is still there.
Therefore, we will ensure that the city gets water from different dams…the city will not struggle for water,” he said.
Regarding the Punawale garbage depot plan, Fadnavis said the Government had already cancelled it. “We will construct a playground and garden at the spot,” he said.
Fadnavis said the state government was determined to resolve the growing traffic problem in cities such as Pimpri-Chinchwad. “We will increase the Metro network. We have approved the Ring Road work worth Rs 20,000 crore which will help lessen the traffic chaos,” he said.
Praising the role played by late Chinchwad MLA Laxman Jagtap, Fadnavis said, “Laxman Jagtap played a significant role in the development of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Even his wife Ashwini Jagtap proved her mettle as the MLA during her short term. I appeal to voters to support Shankar Jagtap, who will carry forward Laxman Jagatp’s legacy,” he said.
