Eye surgeon Dr Vardhaman Kankariya conferred with Dr Gopalakrishna Oration Award

Noted eye surgeon Dr Vardhaman Kankariya, director of Asian Eye Hospital, Pune, has been conferred with the Dr Gopalakrishna Oration Award by the Andhra Pradesh Ophthalmological Society (APOS). The honour was presented during the annual APOS conference held in Guntur on September 20, in recognition of Dr Kankariya’s internationally acclaimed scientific contributions in cataract and LASIK surgery.

The award was presented by Dr Partha Biswas, president of the All India Ophthalmological Society, along with senior office-bearers of APOS. Dr Kankariya delivered a talk on “Advancements in Refractive Surgeries in the Last Three Decades” before an audience of over 1,500 eye surgeons from across the country. He is the first ophthalmologist from Maharashtra to receive this prestigious recognition.

With over 40,000 eye surgeries to his credit, Dr Kankariya also holds the Limca Book of Records entry for performing the maximum number of LASIK procedures in India. He has published more than 50 research papers in leading international journals and has been a recipient of several national and international awards.

Expressing gratitude, Dr Kankariya said, “I am thankful to APOS for this recognition. Such honours inspire us to continue scientific work for the betterment of our patients.”
