Police inspector Vanita Dhumal said that deceased Kunjir, who worked as an architect, was driving the car (compact SUV) at a high speed towards Pune. He lost control of the car, due to which the vehicle lost its course and hit a road divider, and then collided with a truck stationed on the roadside around 4.30 pm Thursday.

The impact was so severe that the front side of the car was badly damaged and the four persons sitting inside the car were crushed to death on the spot.

After receiving information, police teams along with highway safety patrol (HSP) officials rushed to the spot for investigation.

The probe revealed that the truck with which the car collided was stationed in the safe area. “It was learnt that the mishap took place because the car was at a very high speed. Hence, the offence was lodged against the car driver,” said Dhumal.
