Dy CM launches website on wrestling

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday inaugurated an office of Pune Zilla Kustigeer Sangh at Udaybagh where he launched the first ever portal on wrestling.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday inaugurated an office of Pune Zilla Kustigeer Sangh at Udaybagh where he launched the first ever portal on wrestling.

“The state government will make a provision of Rs 18 crore for the constructing a sports complex for Maharashtra Olympic Association,similar to the one at Balewadi,” said Pawar.

Pawar said during an International Olympic Associations meet,certain bodies tried to oust wrestling from the Olympic fold. However,when the voting was held,wrestling received 49 per cent votes as compared to other sports like baseball,scotch and soft-ball which speaks volumes about the glory of wrestling,he added.

He stressed the importance of balanced diet for wrestlers and asked the members of Kustigeer Sangh to update their diet plan on website.

“The portal will include information on various upcoming matches along with the details of Hind Kesari,Rukhmatey Hind Kesari,Maharashtra Kesari,Bharat Kesari matches. This initiative will help young generation engage in the traditional sport,” said Rahul Kalbhor,president,Pune District Kushtigeer Sangh.

Pune Mayor Chanchala Kodre,Deputy Mayor Bandu Gaikwad and Police Commissioner Gulabrao Pol were also present.
