Drunk man driving SUV hits and injures seven

Seven persons were injured after an SUV driven by a man who was drunk hit four vehicles that came in his way in Nigdi on Friday evening.

Seven persons were injured after an SUV driven by a man who was drunk hit four vehicles that came in his way in Nigdi on Friday evening. Police gave him chase and arrested him at Moshi.

As per information given by Nigdi police,at 4.30 pm,a Tata Safari driven by Ankush Bhaskar Kale (34) of Chakan hit three bikes and an auto-rickshaw injuring seven persons. Police said Kale was inebriated at the time.

Senior inspector Nandakumar Bhosale Patil of Nigdi police station said,“Kale first hit a bike and a rickshaw in Shivtejnagar and two bikes about a km from the first spot.”

Patil added,“Kale then went towards a toll booth in Moshi. Teams led by inspector Datta Patil of Bhosari MIDC police station chased him and stopped him by setting up hurdles. Kale was drunk. Medical test will confirm it.” “Three of the injured have been discharged after first aid. The four others are under treatment. None of them is seriously injured. All of them suffered injuries on the hands and legs,” said Patil.

Ibrahim Shaikh,Girish Birewar,Mahadev Chinchalkar,Siddhesh Parab,Ramesh Satpal and Jitendra Yadav were six of the injured who were identified.

Patil said,“Kale’s family owns a brick kiln in Chakan. He will be produced in court on Saturday.”
