Pune might soon become the first district to complete digitisation of land records,with a pilot project to scan and preserve around 40 lakh land documents in offices in Haveli and Mulshi taluks set to begin soon. The initiative is expected to be completed in 10 days.
Settlement commissioner and former district collector Chandrakant Dalvi said the process would be replicated in other offices across the state. He said digitisation of land records would help in curbing cases of forgery and cheating and help track every land deal in the state. The networking of all local offices land record office,city survey and mamlatdar office will help government track the land use pattern and help in maintainance of records.
On the ISO 9001 certification to the district collectorate,Dalvi said it was made possible by a collective effort of the entire staff. The certification involves all the 106 circle offices,106 mamledar offices,14 tehsildar offices,5 SDO offices,17 land acquistion offices and 20 office branches in the collectorate. The ISO certification has been usually awarded to independent offices.
