Diana Pundole from Pune is poised to become the first Indian woman to race a Ferrari in an international championship. She will compete in the Ferrari Club Challenge Middle East from November to April, driving the Ferrari 296 Challenge car across premier Formula One circuits in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

“Being part of the Ferrari Club Challenge Middle East as the first Indian woman is a proud moment not just for me but for women in Indian motorsport. I hope it encourages more women to pursue their passion for racing.”

Her milestone follows years of determination in a male-dominated field. In 2024, Pundole became the first Indian woman to win a national racing championship, clinching the MRF Saloon Cars title by defeating top male competitors at the Madras International Circuit. The victory opened new opportunities and established her as a breakthrough figure for women in Indian motorsport.

Her racing journey began in 2018 through the JK Tyre Women in Motorsport programme. Since then, she has steadily climbed through national championships, recording impressive podium finishes across categories, including the Indian Touring Cars and MRF Saloon Cars. She has also gained substantial experience on international circuits such as Monza, Mugello and Dubai Autodrome.

Pundole credits her late father for sparking her passion for racing. His enthusiasm for motorsport continues to drive her as she embraces a career built on precision, resilience and focus. She trains rigorously, both physically and mentally, to meet the demands of racing at speeds beyond 250 km/h.

Her entry into the Ferrari Challenge is supported by Aligned Automation and Ferrari New Delhi, marking a significant step for Indian representation on global grids. Pundole hopes her success encourages greater visibility and sponsorship for talented women in the sport.
