Ammunitiomn factory,Khadki (AFK),celebrated Ordnance Factory Day on March 18. An exhibition was organised at Anand Bhawan,Range Hills Estate,Khadki. B N Singh,IOFS,senior manager,AFK,inaugurated the exhibition on March 17. The exhibition concluded around 8 pm on Sunday. The objective was to create awareness about arms and ammunition among the public. The first ordnance factory by name ‘Gun and Shell Factory’ under the control of the Ministry of Defence,was established on March 18,1802,said a press release.

NDA commandant flags off Everest expedition

Pune: LT GEN Jatinder Singh,Commandant,National Defence Academy (NDA),recently flagged off the Pune Everest Expedition. Addressing the team,he said they were embarking on a lifetime journey. He added the goal cannot be achieved by an individual and it is team spirit that would see them through. He wished them luck and expressed hope that their achievement would inspire others to follow suit,said a press release issued by the NDA.

‘ARDE,HEMRL working on new ammunition’

Pune: The Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) has been working on the development of a new gun for the artillery regiment,said Defence Research & Development Organisation chief V K Saraswat. He was speaking at an event at Vehicles Research and Development Establishment,Ahmednagar,on Saturday. “Pune-based ARDE is working on new system of guns,” said Saraswat. “Bi-modular charge system for the 155-mm howitzers for the artillery regiment are being developed by the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL),Pune. Trials are over and the ammunition will soon enter the production stage,” he added.
