A cultural event in solidarity with Palestine will take place at the Rashtra Seva Dal, Sane Guruji Smarak on Sinhagad Road in Pune on September 22 at 6:30 pm. The event has been organised by Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine and Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) India. The event will include short films, a photo exhibition, and poetry recitation.

Swapnaja Limkar, coordinator of BDS India (Pune), said, “The BDS movement is all around the world and it began in India in April this year. We are trying to create a space wherein we can recite Palestinian poems, watch films, and sing songs. There is a lot of poetry that has been written on Palestine by Palestinian authors and authors of other nationalities as well, even Indian authors. Faiz Ahmad Faiz has also written on Palestine.”

She adds, “There will also be songs about resistance like Long Live Palestine and Stone in My Hand, which is the description of a small child pelting a stone at a military tank. There will also be short films which have been made on Palestine. The photo exhibition will be mainly about Palestinian art and culture, and also about the destruction in the past two years. Children have been killed by starvation, houses, hospitals, killings of journalists.”
