Elected representatives in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have yet again come out strongly against the state government for sending its staff on deputation to the civic body. During a discussion on the matter, city Congress chief Abhay Chhajed said it was beyond understanding the logic of the state government to send its officers on deputation to the PMC. The PMC general body had earlier expressed dissatisfaction over the appointment of state government officers in the civic body. But more and more officers of the state government are being sent to PMC on deputation and the civic body has no alternative then to accept their services, he said. Chhajed said this was also hampering the growth of the PMC officials as the state government officers were holding senior positions. This is a serious issue as the PMC employees are being kept away from getting senior positions only to accommodate officers of the state government, said Shiv Sena leader Shyam Deshpande.
