Cops hunt for missing techie

A software engineer identified as Hardik Mukesh Makwana (26),working with an IT company in Lulla Nagar,has gone missing since June 3.

A software engineer identified as Hardik Mukesh Makwana (26),working with an IT company in Lulla Nagar,has gone missing since June 3. His friend and colleague Chirayu Kaushik Taylor (30),lodged a missing person report at the Wanowrie police station.

Sub-inspector M S Phunde said Makwana hails from Gujarat and has been working with the IT company in Pune for the past few months. He was residing at Spring Field in Kharadi. Taylor is a resident of Ganesh Nagar in Wadgaon Sheri.

“The duo left the company around 7 pm on June 3 and were going towards Wanowrie on a two-wheeler via Pune-Solapur Road. The heavy rain had caused traffic jam on the Pune-Solapur Road. They took another way to avoid the traffic congestion,” said Phunde.

“As the bike got stuck on the escalation on the Canal Side Road at Jambhulkar Mala. Taylor,who was riding the bike,asked Makwana to get down and walk a few metres. Taylor crossed the escalated part of the road and was waiting for Makwana around 100 metres from where he got down. But Makwana did not turn up,” said Phunde.

“Taylor searched for him in the region. Also,he called Makwana several times on his cellphone. But Makwana’s phone was not reachable,” Phunde added. Police said Makwana was a strong man with a height of 6 feet. He was wearing a green T-shirt,light orange trouser and black shoes when he went missing. The Wanowrie police have launched a search for him.

Police are probing all angles. Teams spoke to the citizens at Jambhulkar Mala area,but have not got any leads,sources said.
