Cop trainer arrested,granted bail

Havaldar Vitthal Raut,trainer at the Police Training School,Khandala was on Monday arrested by the Lonavla city police for allegedly molesting a 21-year-old female trainee.

Havaldar Vitthal Raut (39),trainer at the Police Training School (PTS),Khandala was on Monday arrested by the Lonavla city police for allegedly molesting a 21-year-old female trainee.

The incident allegedly took place on the premises of PTS,Khandala,located about 70 km from Pune city,around 11.30 am on Saturday. The trainee had initially filed a written complaint of molestation against Raut with the PTS officials.

An internal inquiry was initiated into the matter by PTS. On Sunday,the PTS has forwarded its internal investigation report to the Lonavla city police station. Based on the report given by PTS,the Lonavla city police lodged a complaint against Raut under section 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Inspector Vishnukumar Pawar of Lonavala city police said,Raut was arrested and produced before the Wadgaon Maval court. He was granted bail by the court. But we have recorded his statement. Investigation is on and we have got evidence against him.

Raut is from State Reserve Police Force (SRPF),Pune. He was currently attached to PTS,Khandala,as physical trainer. Shivaji Shinde,the head of PTS,Khandala,said internal investigation in the molestation case has been sent to SRPF,Pune for further action.
