In the afternoons, around 3 pm,the Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research (SICSR) canteen is terribly quiet. Bored faces stare vacantly into space. Tables are occupied but not much is said. But this overt vision actually is quite short lived. Beneath the silent surface lie ideas unexplored and energy untapped. As you walk up to an almost silent table, curious eyes stare back at you. After a brief introduction, ideas start pouring in. We talk about our campus life, says Nilotpal Roy,dully. Or rather the lack of it.
For many, the idea of a chit chat in a canteen revolves around what goes on in the academic life. But for these students of BBA(IT),life is beyond their campus. It’s true that we do talk about classes and lectures and link-ups,but then there is so much more that we are concerned about,” says Yamini Parini. It’s the semester end,the exam season and a highly agitated Caandice Vaz feels that its the fear of a term not granted that pries on their mind the most. If we do not get 75 percent attendance,we might miss our exams and that why we all look so scared right now, she says. But while concerns like these are valid and the dreaded attendance list seems to be the most awaited thing at SICSR,some don’t really get affected. Old sins have long shadows,” says Yamini callously. What worries us more is our future.
