They are still as passionate about music as they where when they started 25 years ago. An enthralled audience swayed to the songs of the Mumbai-based rock quintet,Indus Creed,at Landmark,Phoenix MarketCity mall recently. Uday Benegal (vocals),Mahesh Tinaikar (guitars),Zubin Balaporia (keyboards),Rushad Mistry (bass) and Jay Row Kavi (drums),had the audience hooked with numbers from their new album Evolve.

“Each song in this album has its own identity. There is no particular theme that binds them, but what is common is that all of them have a contemporary and high emotional appeal,” says Benegal, who handles the lead vocalist and lyricist duties in the band. Their collaboration with Grammy-nominated British mixing engineer Tim Palmer and mastering veteran Andy VanDette made this album a special treat. Songs like Fireflies ,Dissolve ,The money and Take it harder highlight the band’s still burning determination to play their own songs.

One is forced to wonder what transpired in the 17 years since the last eponymous album in 1995. “We just played and performed on various platforms during these years. Then came this great urge to do something larger. We missed the high of cutting an album. We worked hard on this one,and the whole process took us two years. The entire process of song-writing,arranging,recording,mixing and mastering has been extremely satisfying and highly gratifying for each of us,” Benegal adds. Jai adds,”It has been a fresh journey making this album. We have had amazing moments during its making.”

(Indus Creed has previously performed with Bon Jovi to over 40,000 people in Mumbai, and were the first band for whom MTV channel produced a ‘Rockumentary’)
