Seminar on Can
The International Institute of Information Technology (I2IT) Pune organised a day-long seminar on CAN (controller area networking) and CANopen recently. The event started with a welcome speech by Aruna Katara,Dean (Administration) of I2IT Pune. Speaking on the occasion,Holger Zeltwanger,managing director of CAN in Automation (CiA),Germany,said,“The trend in modern industrial automation and automotive systems is to integrate computing,communication and control into different levels of machine/factory automation and information processes. The introduction of common bus network architecture can improve the efficiency,flexibility and reliability of these integrated applications and reduce installation,reconfiguration and maintenance time and cost.” More than 70 engineers,software developers,consultants and system integrators from manufacturing as well as service sectors participated in the event.

Brand winners
Students of Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD) did the country proud by winning the international competition,L’ oreal Brandstorm,held in Paris. The team comprised of Priti Rajput,Hirachna Pandya,Shruti Jayaprakash and had battled the through regional and national round to compete with representative teams of 36 other countries. Speaking about her experience,Rajput says,“It was brilliant. We had to plan the concept of branding strategy for a new product of the company,which is not in market yet. We had to take care of the whole concept right from the introduction of the product to marketing and other related details.” The team has won a Euros 10,000 worth trip to anywhere in world.

Filming Success
Aman Bhosale,a student of The Foundation for Liberal and Management Education (FLAME) School of Communication,who completed his graduation recently,won the best graduation film of the year award at FLAME,for his hour-long student film Volition – a thriller based on the psychology of a serial killer. He also seized the Best Student Film of the Year Award 2008 (Dean’s Trophy) at FLAME for the short film Versus. This result was arrived at by collating popular vote and graded averages. Besides,Aman has written and directed several other award-winning documentary and short films like Smoker’s Inc,Blinded. Aman has also won several awards,prominent among them being Mr Malhar,2005,awards in several events,including the Ad Zap event,Turncoat Event and 2nd position in the JAM.
