CM Fadnavis launches Cop24 initiative for Pune city police

For the effective execution of Cop24, 39 four wheelers and 123 four-wheelers equipped with GPS tracking systems were provided to Pune city police in the presence of Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, minister of state for social justice Madhuri Misal, Commissioner of Pune City Police Amitesh Kumar, businessman Punit Balan and several senior police officers.

Cop24 is expected to reduce the response time of the police in providing assistance to citizens. Women beat marshals will also conduct patrolling to handle cases related to women’s safety.

Fadnavis said that Pune is a city of international importance. “People from different countries visit Pune. Police are taking steps to improve the traffic situation. The government is providing facilities to the police to maintain law and order in the city. A fleet of vehicles has now been provided to the police for round the clock patrolling to prevent serious crimes under the Cop24 initiative,” he said.

Noted music composers Ajay-Atul performed for the police families at the programme.

During the event, about 17 kgs of gold jewellery that was stolen in a theft case and recovered by the police during a probe, was returned to the jeweller.
