Nothing Like Lear,a play performed by Vinay Pathak and written and directed by Rajat Kapoor,will be staged in Phoenix Marketcity on April 18. The play is a monologue of a clown who has difficulties trying to cope with the effects of old age that include forgetfulness and depression. He also loses confidence in his performances. This apart,the love of his life seems to have abandoned him for an undisclosed reason. The play reflects his frustration with life and his perseverance as he finally sees the silver lining. The performance will begin at 7.30pm.
A new beat
The Mental Martians,who are on their third anniversary tour,will perform at High Spirits,Koregaon Park,on Sunday,2.30pm onwards. Piyush Bhatnagar,Tarang Singhal and Mumbai-based Sarvesh Shrivastava,who also has a solo project Sickflip,have brought a fresh sound to Indian bass by using Indian percussions for creating an innovative blend of dubstep,break,and drum and bass,which make their audiences break into a jig. Shrivastavas solo performances range from bass-heavy,chest-rattling glitch hop to deep experimental sounds. He mixes serene melodic vibes with contrasting hectic sequences to introduce his audiences to a variety of experiences during his performance.
