2 of a family among 4 killed in separate road mishaps
Four persons were killed and seven injured in two separate accidents on Sunday. Two of a family died in the mishap that took place near accident-prone Kamshet tunnel when a speeding jeep crashed into a Maruti car from behind around 5.45 pm. Kamshet police said the car had slowed down as it approached the stripes. However,a speeding jeep hit it from behind killing two persons and injuring three others. Four persons in the jeep were also injured,they said. Police said all the five occupants of the car were from the same family. The deceased have been identified as Nitin Chavan (45) and Sandeep Thorat (45) and the injured as Manisha Chavan (40),Harshwardhan and Digvijay. Police said the four occupants of the jeep were labourers. In a case of hit-and-run,two pedestrians were hit by an unidentified car on Kiwale Ravet Bridge around 7 pm on Sunday. Dehu Road police have identified the deceased as Irshad Mohammed Ali (23) and Mohammed Rafiq Ali (22),both originally from Uttar Pradesh. The two,who were crossing the road,died on the spot.
1 killed in car mishap on Pashan-NDA Road
A 20-year-old youth was killed on the spot and five others were injured after a car they were travelling in turned on its side on Pashan-NDA Road in the early hours of Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Vivek Vinod Ughade,a resident of Ektanagar in Khadakwasla. The driver,Chetan Kiran Magwani (21),was booked for rash driving and causing death due to negligence. Four others,including the driver,suffered minor injuries. API S B Jawale of Pashan Chowky said they were returning home after attenfing a wedding.
