“The entire situation was a result of a lack of planning on part of the railway administration. it was a near stampede. While we could see for ourselves that platforms one,four,five and six,two trains were placed on platforms two and three. It resulted in a mad rush right from the foot overbridge upto the exit gates. If there were problems with the other platforms,any one of the trains could at least have been kept at the outer signal till the platform cleared. In the middle of all the chaos no senior official could be contacted owing to it being a Sunday,” said AR Satyanarayan,a passenger travelling on the Pune-Jaipur express.

YK Singh,spokesperson for the Pune division of the Central Railways,said,“There were no mishaps and even the crowd was not extraordinary. It was the

normal holiday crowd as it was a long weekend.”
