People ganged up and caught a chain snatcher while he was attempting to snatch the gold chain of a 40-year-old woman. The incident occurred at Prabhat road at around 6 pm on Saturday evening.
The woman Nanda Rajendra Paigude,has registered a complaint in this regard with the Deccan Gymkhana police station. On Sunday evening, when Paigude,a resident of Prabhat Road was filling water in the municipal corporation water pump in her society,a 22-year-old man jumped over the society wall and tried to snatch her gold chain. Shocked,she called people for help who helped nab him and handed him over to the police. The man was identified as Taposhit Haroshit Sarkar,a resident of Kolkata.In another incident of chain-snatching,unidentified thieves stole a gold chain of an octogenarian while he was sleeping in his house. The incident occurred at around 2 pm on Friday.
Kishan Shankar Sanas (80),a resident of 9,Shukruwar Peth,has registered a complaint with the Vishrambaug police station. Police officials said that around 2 pm on Friday,Sanas was sleeping in his house with the door open when unidentified thieves entered his flat and stole the gold chain he was wearing.

Rs 2.5 lakh was stolen from a car on Sunday morning when the victim,Sampat Vitthal Suryavanshi,was geting it painted at a workshop in Chatturshrungi.
Police officials said that Suryavanshi,a resident of MSEB colony on Senapati Bapat Road left Nana Peth on Sunday morning with Rs. 2.5 lakh kept on the cars dashboard and went to S.S Autoworks in Chatthrshrungi. While his car was getting painted he found that the money had gone missing for his car.
Suryavanshi has registered a complaint with the Chatturshrungi police.
