Catering to Basic Needs
Maharashtra Institute of Technologys entrepreneurship cell has set up two campus companies for students Hostel Kit and Educational Kit. Both the start-ups are managed by senior students of the college. Hostel Kit will provide students with household essentials,while Educational Kit will provide them with second-hand books and other curriculum-related requirements. Witin one week of starting the initiative,it has proved to be a huge success and registered a profit of Rs 50,000.
Quiz Champs
Cycle Pure Agarbathies,Indias largest incense stick brand,
recently conducted the popular Cycle Heritage Quiz 2013,aimed at educating students on the heritage and culture
of India. Held at Nehru Memorial Hall,with columnist
Tehseen Poonawalla as the chief guest,the competition saw a participation of 200 teams from across the city. Muktangan English School emerged as the champion team,followed by Abhinav School as first runner-up and Crescent School as the second runner-up.
Winning Moment
Sir Parshurambhau College won the recently held inter-college theatre competition,Prabhodan Karandak. A cash prize of Rs 7,000 and a trophy were given to the winning team by Nilam Gore. A cash prize of Rs 5,000 was given to the first runner-up team from Dhole Patil College of Engineering,and Maharashtra Institute of Technology bagged the second runner-up position with a cash prize of Rs 3,000.
A Warm Welcome
Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeths International Student Centre recently organised an orientation programme to welcome students from various parts of the world. The orientation programme focused on various aspects of academic and administrative set-up of the university and the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) norms. Gracing the event were Dr Deepak Tilak,Vice-chancellor of the Vidyapeeth; Nirupama Prakash,head of International Student Centre; and registrar Dr Umesh Keskar. The international students performed various indigenous dances.
