Days after an app-based cab driver from Mankhurd was found dead in Pune, police Tuesday arrested his friend for allegedly murdering him. The deceased person was identified as Mohammed Salim Ansari, 30. Police said that Ansari had gone to Pimpri-Chinchwad area for work last week. However, when he did not return home and was not anwering calls, his family filed a missing person’s complaint with the Mankhurd police on June 19. During the probe, the police managed to trace Ansari's cab in the Bhosari area of Pune. While checking the nearby areas, police learnt that an unidentified body was found near the Urse toll booth under the jurisdiction of Kamshet Police Station. Police, with the help of Ansari's family, identified him.The post-mortem report suggested Ansari was murdered, said a police officer. Later, by scanning Ansari's phone call details and going through the toll booth’s logs on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and CCTV footage, police managed to trace a suspect, Aditya, in Latur. Aditya is Ansari’s friend and allegedly admitted to having killed Ansari over a dispute related to a car deal, police said. Aditya was subsequently arrested and handed over to police in Pune for further investigation, another officer said.
