Bullets fired at ambulance of de-addiction center in Pune, 3 arrested

Pune city police have arrested three persons, including a hotelier, for allegedly opening fire at an ambulance of a de-addiction center near a Beer Bar on Bakori Road in Kesnand on Thursday night.

Police have identified the accused persons as Vishal Ramdas Kolte (32) of Bakori, Sandip Kailas Hargude (42) and Amol Rajaram Hargude (35) of Kesnand.

Police said the three accused are friends and were consuming liquor at the Aryan Beer Bar on Bakori Road on Thursday night. Police said Sandip Hargude’s wife called an ambulance to take him to a de-addiction center in Loni Kalbhor.

Accordingly, the complainant Kanade reached the spot with colleagues in an ambulance to take Sandip to the de-addiction center around 9 pm. But, Sandip resisted and called his friends Kolte and Amol Hargude.

Police said all three got angry and attacked the ambulance. They allegedly pelted stones at the ambulance. Kolte allegedly fired two bullets from his revolver during the incident. The bullets did not hurt anyone, but the ambulance was damaged due to stone pelting, police said.

After receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot fr investigation. Police arrested the three accused persons under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 109, 324 (4), 49, 4 (5) and sections of the Indian Arms Act.

Police sub inspector Vaijanath Kedar, the investigation officer said, “Accused Kolte is into hotel and land dealing business. He was arrested in a criminal case in the past, but was acquitted by the court. Probe revealed that he was having a licence to carry the revolver. All accused were drunk when the incident took place. Further investigation is on.”
