A caretaker (58) of an unoccupied building off Senapati Bapat Road was found murdered in its elevator on Wednesday morning. The police have zeroed in on two suspects who had joined as security guards four days ago at the building but are now missing. Police said they will also initiate action against the unregistered security agency for whom they work.
The deceased identified as Baburao Vitthal Moghekar worked as the caretaker of Ambika Apartments and used to stay in an out-house of another nearby building. On Tuesday night,he went to meet his friends in Gokhalenagar as he regularly used to. As he did not return on time, his son Sandeep got worried and contacted those who could possibly have information about his whereabouts. He also checked some of the hospitals suspecting an accident.
Dnyaneshwar Chavan, deputy commissioner of police (Zone III) said,Next morning, another friend of the deceased found his slippers outside the lift. They then opened the lift and found Moghekar with hands tied and gagged.
Police said the two suspects are Raja Jainarayan Yadav and Shambabu Yadav who were working for one Pacific Security Agency which was not registered. Chavan said the suspects are originally from Uttar Pradesh. We will send a team to their native place and hope to arrest them soon.
He said there are many security agencies which were not registered.
They appoint people without even taking their proper details and send them to different buildings and societies as security guards. We will initiate action against the owner of the security agency. The two had worked for the agency about eight months ago and were recruited back recently, Chavan added.
