Builder killed,3 injured in Expressway accident

A 41-year-old Mumbai-based builder was killed and three persons were injured in an accident involving a State Transport bus,a truck and two cars.

A 41-year-old Mumbai-based builder was killed and three persons were injured in an accident involving a State Transport bus,a truck and two cars at Somatane Phata near Talegaon Dabhade on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway at 3 pm on Monday. One of the injured,a woman from Aundh,is in critical condition.

The deceased has been identified as Rajiv Vinod Shah of Mumbai. Police said Shah,a resident of Goregaon in Mumbai,was a builder by profession. According to the highway police,first a car travelling on Pune-Mumbai lane was hit by a truck from behind. The impact sent the car into the lane in the opposite direction,breaking the median. The police said after the car went into the other lane,it caused another car and a bus to collide. Two others injured in the accident have been identified as Rakesh Pande (27),a resident of Kandivali and Shilpa Bakshi (43) a resident of Aundh. A doctor at Lokmanya Hospital in Nigdi said the condition of one of the injured is critical. The driver of Shah’s car,Rampal Sahu of Vileparle,suffered minor injuries,police said.
