BJP-Sena fumes, says NCP ‘fixed’ ward boundaries

The opposition BJP-Shiv Sena in PCMC on Wednesday came down hard on the realignment of boundaries of the two-member wards, calling the entire exercise as “fixed” by the NCP.

The opposition BJP-Shiv Sena in PCMC on Wednesday came down hard on the realignment of boundaries of the two-member wards, calling the entire exercise as “fixed” by the NCP.

The opposition has said it would approach the State Election Commission and complain that the delimitation exercise was heavily loaded in favour of the NCP.

Citing the case of Mayor Yogesh Behl’s Sant Tukaram Nagar ward Pimpri-Chinchwad BJP president Eknath Pawar said,“Here the inconvenient areas around D Y Patil College have been joined with HA wards. This is a clear ploy to ensure the victory of Behl.” However, the Mayor justified that he has lost the advantage after this exercise. “The opposition’s claim is false,” he said.

Calling the exercise a ‘gross manipulation’ Shiv Sena leader Sarang Kamtekar said four corporators belonging to BJP-Shiv Sena have been left without a ward. “Seema Savle,Asha Landge,Varsha Medigiri and B Bhombe, who would have won hands down from their wards, have been ousted as their wards have been halved and joined with other wards,” he said.

Corporator Seema Savle said there seems to be deliberate attempt to ensure that elected representative, who made life miserable for NCP,should be stopped from becoming corporators again. “But I will contest again from a nearby ward and win,” she said.

However,Municipal Commissioner Asheesh Sharma said those who have complaints always have the option of approaching the EC.
