BJP workers clash with CFC officials

The Citizen Facilitation Centre at the district collectorate on Thursday witnessed a brawl between CFC officials and members of the Bharatiya Janata Party bringing work to a temporary halt and agitation by the BJP workers

The Citizen Facilitation Centre (CFC) at the district collectorate on Thursday witnessed a brawl between CFC officials and members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bringing work to a temporary halt and agitation by the BJP workers. Even as the district administration decided to strike work on Friday,an hour-long meeting between senior BJP officials and Resident Deputy Collector (RDC) Anil Pawar saw the issue being resolved without any police complaint.

The brawl took place after BJP member Jayant Bhave took on SDO and deputy collector Avinash Hadgal,blaming the administration for inefficient functioning. War of words followed and heated arguments entailed resulting in a brawl between the officials,Bhave and other BJP members.

Speaking to Newsline,RDC Anil Pawar said,“We took help of the administration officials and the media to resolve the issue. After stating the facts,the BJP members went on the backfoot and tendered a verbal apology to the officials. We reached a compromise and decided not to register a police complaint.”

He clarified that his staff would report to work on Friday as he did not want the public work to be affected. “We want to make sure that there is no delay in issuing certificates. However,we cannot ignore this incident and we have sought police protection from the Bundgarden Police,” said Pawar.

Meanwhile,SDO Hadgal said he was only requesting the citizens to stand in line when he was manhandled by the members. “We were only trying to do our duty. With the admission period in full swing,there was rush and we were only asking applicants to stand in queue,’” said Hadgal.

Terming the incident unfortunate,BJP Yuva Morcha president Ganesh Ghosh said,“The people at the CFC were frustrated with the way the adminsitration was functioning. We had even given a memorandum to the RDC on Wednesday on the issue,” said Ghosh.
