When contacted, BJP's Pune city unit president Dheeraj Ghate said, "Kamble was appointed to a position in a particular circle in Parvati constituency unit of the party. The appointment was made less than a week ago. After the reports came in, we confirmed his involvement and he was immediately removed from his position."

PUNE CITY police’s Crime Branch has booked seven persons, including a local office-bearer of the BJP, following a raid at a gambling den being operated from a tin shed in Dhankawadi area on Monday. The BJP functionary identified as Audumber Kamble, who was recently appointed to his position in Parvati constituency unit, was removed from the post after the incident was reported, BJP has said.

Police booked seven persons including Kamble (42) and six others Sangram Dilip Bhosale (48), Mangesh Maruti Shelar (39), Yuvraj Nanasaheb Suryawanshi (38), Sagar Narayan Adagale (31), Bapu Laxman Patole (59), Rohan Shekhar Londhe (32). Cash and mobile phones, collectively worth over Rs 2.20 lakh, were also seized during the raid, a crime branch officer said.

A case was subsequently registered against all the seven persons under provisions of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act. “Acting on specific input, a team from the Crime Branch conducted a raid and apprehended seven people involved in gambling. The accused have been issued notices and instructed to cooperate with the investigation,” said a Crime Branch officer, adding that the offence does not carry provisions for arrest.
