BJP likely to get new city chief by month-end

Last week,Sudhir Manguntiwar took over as state party unit chief,the position left vacant with Gadkari’s promotion. Ever since,BJP leaders in the city as well as corporators are keeping their fingers crossed.

At the state level,there are two factions within the party — the Gadkari faction and the other of Gopinath Munde — vying for the city chief’s post. Corporators including Vikas Mathkari,Ganesh Bidkar and Ashok Yenpure are from the Gadkari camp,and those in race from the Munde camp are city unit general secretary Yogesh Gogawale,city unit vice president Sandeep Khardekar,former corporator Gopal Chintal,corporators Muralidhar Mohol and Dilip Kamble.

“With the change in state leadership,there will also be changes at the city level. The name of the new city unit president is likely to be declared by April end. In fact,appointments in the ward level chairmen of the party are already done,” said Khardekar.

“In future,the BJP will certainly act as an aggressive force on issues that plague the common man and I am confident that the BJP would certainly come back in power at the Pune Municipal Corporation,” he said.
