A 21-year-old student pursuing BBA at a college in Pune was murdered on Tuesday evening allegedly with a machete in Wagholi by a 40-year-old man, the Pune City police said. The victim was allegedly in a same-sex relationship with the accused, the police added. A massive search has been launched for the accused, who works at a construction site.
According to the Lonikand police station, the murder took place on Tuesday evening in an open space next to a residential society on Bakori Road area in Wagholi. The 21-year-old victim, a BBA student at a college in Wagholi, was attacked by the accused with a machete. The victim lived at a hostel in Wadebolai area.
“After the attack, the victim was found profusely bleeding by a passerby. The victim, before losing consciousness, told the witness the name of the attacker and also that the attack was a fallout of his relationship with the accused. The victim breathed his last when he was being taken to hospital,” an officer from the Lonikand police station said.
“After the incident was reported to us, we launched a probe. Probe suggests that the accused is around 40 years old and works as a tradesman at a construction site. Two separate teams have been formed to trace and arrest the suspect,” the officer added.
