Artsy endeavours

City’s Arts topper-Prachi Saxena gets candid about her hobbies, future plans and study techniques

Prachi Saxena,a student of The Army Public School in Camp topped the standard 12 CBSE Board exams in Pune this year for the Arts stream. Despite being a good science student up to standard 10,Prachi was always drawn towards Arts and Humanities, which made her switch to Arts in college. She says,“Honestly speaking,I always felt science was very limited in scope and I’m sure I wouldn’t have done well if I had continued studying it. Luckily enough,I was able to convince my parents to let me change my stream.”

Prachi has scored an aggregate of 92.6 per cent with 99 percent in Psychology and 94 percent in English. When asked about her study techniques she confesses,“I never really had to study for 5-6 hours a day because I used to concentrate during my classes and was attentive when my teachers taught. Also, there was healthy competition between me and my peers which constantly kept me on my toes.” Saxena is another example, which proves that studying is easy and enjoyable if one chooses something in one’s sphere of interest.

She has always been a good public speaker, and often planned and hosted several Army functions along with her friends. Prachi’s interests span over several areas but of those, the one she absolutely loves is dancing. She has already completed four levels at the Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts. About this hobby she says,“Even though I’m not very good at it,I still enjoy dancing immensely and think that it is the best way to unwind and relax.”

Prachi hopes to enroll into the double honours degree at Saint Xavier’s College in Mumbai. She is interested in studying Psychology and English, which happen to be her two favourite subjects. About her future plans she says,“I don’t want to give up either Psychology or English so the future definitely has them both in equal measure. I’m passionate about both these subjects and want to do something where they run parallel to each other. Right now,I’m thinking about a career in Mass Communication and Journalism, but you never know. So,I guess we should just wait and see how it pans out.”
