The Economic Offences Wing of the CBI on Wednesday arrested one more person in connection with the alleged duping of the United Bank of India (UBI,Deccan Gymkhana branch) of over Rs 2.5 crore on account of housing loans using forged documents.

The Economic Offences Wing of the CBI on Wednesday arrested one more person in connection with the alleged duping of the United Bank of India (UBI,Deccan Gymkhana branch) of over Rs 2.5 crore on account of housing loans using forged documents. The arrested has been identified as Parvez Dulha Khan (39) of Shankar Seth Road. CBI sources said Deepak More,the proprietor of Balaji Resort,and Khan were key persons in getting the loan sanctioned from the Deccan Gymkhana branch.

Jail for bid to rape minor girl

A youth — Raju alias Bhagya Dharma Shivsharan — has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years’ rigorous imprisonment for attempting to rape a physically challenged minor girl in 2009. Principal district and sessions judge Anant Badar passed the order on Wednesday.

Police said the victim was Shivsaran’s neighbour. The complaint said the girl had left her home to buy some peanuts but failed to return. She was rescued from Shivsaran’s house after her father heard her screams.

Recognition for K K Eye Institute

KK Eye Institute,Pune,run by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission,has won the Swami Vivekananda Appreciation Award 2011 instituted by Vivekananda Netralaya Lions NAB Eye Hospital,Miraj. The 4th edition of the award was attended by 450 opthalmologists from across the country. The award carries a scroll,a trophy and a cheque of Rs 11,000. CEO,K K Eye Institute,Renu Wadhwa,accepted the award and dedicated it to Dada J P Vaswani,the spiritual head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission.
